Right next door to Kettle’s Yard is the Museum of Cambridge. A two minute walk will take you to Castle Mound, which offers a fantastic view of the city. As well as Garden Kitchen at Kettle’s Yard, there are many great local cafés, pubs and restaurants.
Also close by (a ten minute walk) is Murray Edwards College which has a renowned collection of art, the New Hall Art Collection. The New Hall Art Collection is a permanent collection of modern and contemporary art by women artists. Paintings, prints and sculpture are displayed throughout Murray Edwards College and there are often special exhibitions. You can normally visit 10am-6pm every day.

The University of Cambridge Museums, of which Kettle’s Yard is one, is a consortium of the eight University Museums and the Cambridge University Botanic Garden. This group includes:

If you are visiting Cambridge for the day, we recommend taking in one or more of the other University of Cambridge Museums.
From Kettle’s Yard, on a nice day, you could take the scenic route to the other side of town by walking along ‘the Backs’ of the colleges to get a fantastic view of John’s College, King’s College and Trinity College. From Kettle’s Yard follow Northampton Street until you get to the roundabout, take the first exit on to Queen’s Road and continue until you reach ‘the Backs’.
Once you’ve walked along ‘the Backs’ you could visit the Museum of Classical Archaeology (turn right on to Sidgwick Avenue) or turn left on to Silver Street, walk to the end, turn right then take the first left and you will be on Downing Street where you can find the Museum of Zoology, the Sedgwick Museum and the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. Alternatively, don’t turn left on to Downing Street, continue along Trumpington Street until you reach the Fitzwilliam Museum.
