The Arbury Carnival is an annual celebration held next to the Arbury Community Centre in North Cambridge on the second of Saturday each June. It was first held as a small local event in 1977 to celebrate the Queens Silver Jubilee and has grown each year. Recent years have brought around 5000 people to North Cambridge for the event.

Arbury Carnival brings community, creativity and celebration together. For over 40 years the carnival has supported important community groups and offers up an exciting event for people to come together. With a parade, entertainment, a children’s area, product, creative art workshops and food stalls there is something for everyone.

This year, the Arbury Carnival has inspired the Kettle’s Yard Tate Exchange workshop on 13 April. Come along to Tate Modern, experience and get involved in the Arbury Carnival outside of Cambridge.

Join in and print, sew and decorate part of a giant patchwork fabric for this year’s Carnival in North Cambridge. The fabric making workshops are developed by artists Hilary Cox-Condron, Sophie Cullinan and Joe Lyward. Additionally, you can meet Arbury Carnival committee members, learn more about organising community events and explore the Carnival’s 40-year history.

We are excited to see how people work together on this exciting collaborative project which will be included in the 2018 Arbury Carnival parade. This carnival will take place this year on Saturday 9th of June. Kettle’s Yard and Open House will be there with more drop in creative activities. Come along and get involved at Tate in April and then see your work in action this Summer!
