Find out What’s On at Kettle’s Yard here.
Lucy Wheeler, Learning and Engagement Officer
Over the course of 3 months, students from North Cambridge Academy have worked with dancer and artist Filipa Pereira Stubbs to develop dance pieces inspired by the New Rhythms exhibition at Kettle’s Yard. The young people have enjoyed visits to Kettle’s Yard house and gallery, where they have got to know about the life and the work of Henri Gaudier-Brzeska and his contemporaries. Students have then taken part in weekly dance workshops where they have learnt about various dance movements in the 19th and 20th century and have devised choreographed group and individual pieces in response.
The young people will perform their dance sequences at Kettle’s Yard on Saturday 20 June. The first performance will take place at 12pm and then be followed by short pop up dances that will take place in different locations across venues on Castle Street. The project is part of a wider event called Castle Hill Open Day, which celebrates the history and heritage of Castle Hill. So please join us for these wonderful performances, plus tours, talks, activities, music and more with historians, artists, archaeologists, local experts and others. This date also marks the last weekend that Kettle’s Yard will be open before closing for a major redevelopment. We look forward to seeing you then!
