We are delighted to announce our full chamber music concert series for the 2019/2020 season. We are hosting another exciting line-up including familiar faces, as well as some who are new to Kettle’s Yard. This will be our second full year back in the House at Kettle’s Yard since our reopening in February 2018, and we are looking forward to continuing the successes of last year’s programme.
This year we have more ensemble playing than we have ever had before, with a total of six quartets performing, along with two quintets. The series will begin with the Van Kuijk Quartet, who played during the 2017 Chamber concert series in St John’s Divinity School. This will be the first time they experience the delights of playing in the House here at Kettle’s Yard. We also welcome back the Maxwell Quartet, who Chamber Music Programmer, Justin Lee, says are “spicing their offering with idiosyncratic renditions of Scottish folk music.” New to the programme this year are the Consone Quartet, who have just been selected for the BBC New Generation Artist’s scheme.
Playing alongside all these remarkable collectives, we also have a number of superb individual players, including pianist Alasdair Beatson, Jamal Aliyev on cello and rising star, Giuseppe Guarrera on piano.
“Undoubtedly the best way to end a Thursday!” – Chamber concert audience member, 2018
Deborah Carnwath, Music Associate, says “listening to chamber music of an evening in the unique surroundings of Kettle’s Yard is one of Cambridge’s special pleasures.”
This Autumn/Michaelmas term we are looking forward to welcoming the following:
17 October – Van Kuijk Quartet
24 October – Lonarc Oboe Trio
31 October – Giuseppe Guarrera
21 November – Daniel Rowland and Craig White
28 November – Gildas Quartet and Carola Darwin
5 December – Maxwell Quartet
