Kettle’s Yard volunteer Claire is highly commended at SHARE volunteer awards

The first annual SHARE Volunteer Awards for Museums in the East was held in June to celebrate and recognise the incredible support that volunteers contribute to museums in our region.

We nominated three of our volunteers for awards; Jane Gooch, for the Going the Extra Mile Award, Claire Daunton for the Behind the Scenes Award and Ewa Ibanez for the Community Award. Overall the University of Cambridge Museums nominated ten of their volunteers. The celebration event was held in Bury St. Edmunds, where nominated volunteers enjoyed a drink and canapés alongside their museum colleagues before the award presentations were made.

Claire Daunton was highly commended in the Behind the Scenes Volunteer category. Claire volunteers in the Kettle’s Yard Archive, coordinating volunteers, helping researchers and giving public talks. Her dedication to the Archive, on both a practical and strategic level, has been instrumental in ensuring that that this important collection is now properly managed, preserved, resourced and made accessible. As Frieda our archivist comments “the Archive is increasingly well integrated into the Kettle’s Yard programme, and everything that we are now doing with the Archives builds on foundations that Claire has laid”.
